After our recent switch to the social media site LinkedIn, we have received our first company online recommendation. From a parent of a previous client which read: ‘Julie is my saviour, she came into our lives at a very difficult time and the support and compassion she has shown is outstanding. Julie is a professional with a heart of pure gold.’

Julie will be taking the EMDR training which will mean she has completed part one by mid September and will have completed the full training levels 1-3 by February 2014.

The name, EMDR, refers to a psychological therapy known as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.  Its founder, Dr Francine Shapiro, discovered by accident that disturbing thoughts she was having seemed to disappear as she moved her eyes in rapid sideways movements.

Recently our team has undertaken a new member. Shetland pony Bonnie is an adorable and kind spirited creature with cosyblack fur that is sure to be extremely popular in child therapy sessions of EAP.
Bonnie came to us as a rescue pony, having been found in extremely poor conditions. When she arrived she was seriously underweight and infested with lice. After being taken into our care Bonnie has been nursed back to full health and cured of her lice-borne skin condition. She now works alongside Polly Panda and Harley as part of the Howorth Fold Equine Assisted Psychotherapy centre.
Bonnie has already proven herself to be an excellent addition to the therapy sessions, bringing busy service amongst children and adults.

  5. Julies success in ‘Race for Life 2013’

Julie began training for the Pennine 10k run in January 2013. Julie has not done any running since she left school (well into the last century) but decided to take on the challenge of training for and competing in the Pennine 10k. She trained by running three times per week, through all of the worst winter and spring weather that we have experienced in years, to take part in the race on the 2nd June.

Julie has been running to raise money for Pendleside Hospice. Simpson Skoda of Colne has provided £150 to wear their t shirt whilst running the 10k race. The raise was completed in an amazing 67 minutes and raised £250 in total for PendlesideHospice
More recently Julie has gone on to compete in the Burnley Race For Life on June 16th in support of anyone suffering from cancer but particularly her brother Andrew and Auntie Jean, finishing in 30 minutes and 54 seconds. Well done Julie!
There’s more competition on the horizon with Julie currently training hard for the Wilmslow half marathon in March 2014. DrMargaret Bullock will also be joining her as the two will soon be competing in the Accrington 10K on 27th October 2013.
