As a Person-Centred counsellor, Helen works to support both adult and child clients to understand their experiences, situation and struggles in a caring, safe, non-judgemental and confidential space.
She has over 5 years’ experience supporting and working therapeutically with clients who have experienced ill-health, chronic pain or fatigue, anxiety, stress, bereavement, loss, low mood, relationship issues, self-esteem, self-harm or school/work-related issues. Helen has particular experience in supporting clients through trauma, ill-health and anxiety, and in addition to her private counselling practice, she works with an organisation which supports women, families, children and young people affected by domestic abuse and violence.
Helen works to treat each client with compassion, care and respect, allowing them the space to better understand their issues, become more self-aware and achieve greater independence. Typically, this will include working approaches such as Compassionate Mind, somatic awareness, mindfulness; with creative activities when working with children or young people which enables them to access feelings in non-verbal ways. This is complimented by the experience gained from her current supplementary position as a primary school teaching assistant.
The professional qualifications that Helen possesses include Counselling, Children’s Care Learning & Development and Business & Finance. She is a member of the BACP, meets the profession’s competency framework to work with children and young people, and has enhanced DBS clearance. Helen is available to offer counselling by face to face appointment, telephone call, or online via video chat.
